Letters/Children’s Work

Parents have informed us that they are not always receiving letters home.  Therefore each child has their own pocket to contain letters and work to go home.

These pockets are in the cloak room (small room) and parents are welcome to check these at drop off/pick up times.

Welcome back to Pre-School – we hope you all had a wonderful Summer Holiday and look forward to hearing from the children what adventures they enjoyed.

A very warm welcome to our new parents and children.  Should you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff or Fiona Dewis.

Collective Worship

Once a term, we will be taking the children into St Colman’s Church on a Tuesday morning for 15 minutes for collective worship with Father John.  If you do not wish for your child to be included in this trip, please let Mrs Keogh or Mrs Dewis know as soon as possible.

Don’t forget our Facebook Page

This term’s topic is:

People who help us

Currently we have Police and the RNLI coming in to talk to the children.  We have contacted various occupations but no one is able to help.

Therefore if there is a family member or friend that would be able to talk to the children, please inform Mrs Dewis or Mrs Keogh.  We would like to have a wide range of people talk to the children. Such as doctor, dentist, nurse, veterinarian, fire brigade, train driver, bus driver, librarian, farmer, shop keeper, optician etc.

Colder Weather

As it seems our summer has finished, and is getting colder, please can you ensure that your child has a coat (hat, gloves etc.) to wear when they play in the garden.

Don’t forget to put your child’s name on ALL items.

We are bringing Abacus up to date by introducing an online system of recording your child’s learning.  A separate letter giving full details and permission slip is attached to this Newsletter.

Safeguarding Issues

Mobile Phones

Please can we remind all parents/carers who are dropping off and/or collecting children that the setting is a Mobile free area and any calls made/received should be done once off the premises.

Front Door

Please note that if the front door has been locked, please do not let yourself out.  Ask a

member of staff to let you out who can then lock the door behind you.

Thank you

Pay As You Go Sessions

These (short notice) sessions are available on a first come, first served basis subject to availability.  They are in addition to your normal sessions and can be booked up at least 24 hours in advance.  These sessions are ideal if you have a doctors or dentist appointment.  Please note payment is required on or before the day of the session at a cost of £12.60 (3 hours) or £25.20 all day. (2 year old £13.20 (3 hours) or £26.40 all day.

Request for No Smoking

We would like to ask all parents/careers not to smoke whilst in the queuing area therefore giving consideration to others.

Healthy Food

We provide a snack consisting of a piece of fruit/vegetable, breadsticks or raisins. We do ask for donations of payment for the snack i.e. 50p per week. However if you wish your child to have a snack from home, please remember this is a small healthy snack and must be in a named container.  We also have a nut ban at his setting which includes peanut butter.

Clothing Labelled

Please can you remember to put your child’s name on all their possessions, we have several duplicate bags, lunch boxes, coats, wellington boots and the children cannot always identify their own.  Things that need to be named are coats, hats, scarves, gloves, boots, shoes, lunch boxes, snack pots.  Bags and lunch boxes need to be named on the outside please.   This speeds the process up of finding bags if children need their clothes changed or finding the correct lunch box or coat etc.
